Who may enter Entries are welcome from writers anywhere in the world. There is no age limit.

Description The competition is organized by Australian Book Review.

Entries must be a single story of 2,000 to 5,000 words, written in English.

Stories can be on any subject and in any style.

Entry fees Current ABR subscriber: AU$15 Full-time student: AU$15 Standard/non subscriber: AU$25

Prizes • 1st prize: AU$7,000 • 2nd prize: AU$2,000 • 3rd prize: AU$1,000 • The judges will commend three extra stories, the authors of which will receive $850 each.

The three shortlisted stories will be published in August 2017, both in the print edition and ABR Online.
