Popular Rakshabandhan Tales from History and Mythology

On a fateful day, the man lost his shooting arm when a grenade exploded accidentally. Everyone pitied him. They called him unfortunate. What is he without his shooting arm. But this man still wanted to win.

War Without Weapons

It was a long march. The goal was just to pick up a fistful of salt from the sea! And for this, thousands had joined the march. When Mahatma Gandhi set out from Amdavad, he was given a farewell fit for a warrior! Why was he on this march? The reason was to oppose the British who were charging heavy taxes on basic necessities like salt, which, in fact, was produced in India. Gandhi responded to this by asking,

Two Servants

This story is of the time when Tilak Maharaj and Dadabhai Navroji used to live in England. They both used to live together in a rented house. Dadabhai enjoyed doing various chores. He used to wake up early in the morning and clean the house, fill the water containers, polish the shoes and then he would take a shower and continue with his daily duties. Everything would be neat and clean by the time Tilak Maharaj woke up.

True Audience

In Lucknow, there was a crazy king, Wajid Ali Shah. He was crazy in many ways: the whole day he slept, and the whole night he enjoyed food, dance, music. He was a night man. He had gathered all the greatest musicians into his court, all the great dancers. His court was really rich, but he was always feeling a little sad that one musician who was perhaps the greatest in the country, had not come to his court.

Onake Obavva

Hyder Ali planned to attack the fort of Chitradurga , during the reign of Madakari Nayaka. He found the fort impenetrable. But one day, one of Hyder Ali's men saw a woman going into a small hole in the rocks and enter the fort.

Manuneedhi Cholan

Manuneethi choalna did not have cildren for a long time. Since he performed a number of good deeds to obtain children and finally a male infant was born to him. The boy was named veedhivitanka.
